Description

The patriotic sacrifice and selfless courage of 9/11’s fallen heroes will be honored during the 15th annual Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers (T2T) 5K Run & Walk in New York City on Sunday, September 25, 2016, starting at 9:30 a.m. An expected 30,000 will retrace the final footsteps of Stephen Siller, the late FDNY firefighter who made the ultimate sacrifice during his heroic efforts to rescue survivors of the September 11 terrorist attack in New York City.  In its 15th consecutive year, the event has become a beloved tribute to not just the 343 firefighters, but all the first responders who selflessly laid down their lives that day.

Event highlights include:
-Post run party/BBQ
-Event T-Shirt for all race participants (first come, first serve).
-Free concert featuring pop star Rachel Platten. Platten’s triple-platinum selling single “Fight Song” rose to number one on adult pop radio before being succeeded by her second platinum selling hit, “Stand by You.”
-Any individual watching the concert this year must have a runners bib to gain entrance.
-Pre-run ceremony featuring an official retirement of Siller the dog, an explosives detection dog who has been working at John F. Kennedy International Airport with his handler, Chris Neeson.

The Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk is open to the public. Registration is required and participants can visit www.t2trun.org for more information on how to run/walk or volunteer. Online registration will remain open until September 24 at 11:59 p.m.
