On May 24th, the Flame of Hope will start its journey across Long Island at the Eastern Long Island Torch Run from Montauk to East Hampton. On May 26th, the Nassau County Leg will start at Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream, run along Sunrise Highway, ending at Farmingdale State College. The Suffolk County Leg will start at the East Islip Fire Department, run along Montauk Highway and end at Farmingdale State College where they will meet with the Nassau County Leg & Special Olympics Athletes to run into the ceremony. These runs will lead into the State Summer Games held on June 11th in Brockport.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit Special Olympics it is the largest grassroots fundraising and public awareness vehicle for the movement across the globe! More than 85,000 officers from 35 countries carried the "Flame of Hope" across their communities and into their local games and competitions last year!
