Come Join Us for the 2nd Annual

Endangered Species Day Celebration at the Hempstead Plains

Saturday, May 30, 2015 • 1 pm - 3 pm

Learn what Friends of Hempstead Plains does to preserve

endangered species and the environment every day!

  The event is free!

-Environmentally themed games and crafts for families

-Kids become Hempstead Plains Explorers completing activities to earn badges

-Guided tour of the Hempstead Plains and our new Education Center

-Youth art contest* and nature photography contest**

Please dress appropriately to protect from insects

*Art contest for grades K-12: To participate create an original drawing/painting of one endangered species on an 8 ½ by 11 piece of paper. Bring artwork on day of event before 1 pm. Prizes will be awarded for winning entry in each grade group (K-2; 3-5; 6-8 and High School).

**Photography Contest for adults 18 and older:  Create an 8X10 photo with the theme Biodiversity of Long Island.  Photo can be any type of plant or animal found on LI.  Bring photo on day of event before 1 pm. Prizes will be awarded for the top 3 photos.

Entries for both contests must be registered in advance.
