Hundreds of veterans and their families from across Long Island will come together this Sunday, July 13, 2014 in Yaphank for the Second Annual Kick Stand Up Motorcycle Poker Run and Car Show. Proceeds from the event will benefit Suffolk County United Veterans, an organization that provides housing and support services for homeless veterans.
The day also includes live music, food, a vendor showcase, raffles and prizes, a “Blessing of the Bikes” ceremony, as well as a classic car show.
The Poker Run will start at 11am at the Red River Inn, 450 Main Street, Yaphank. Motorcycle participants will be making five stops:
1. Thunderbikes, 72 Jayne Boulevard, Port Jefferson Station
2. Cliff’s Elbow Room, 1549 Main Road, Jamesport
3. Renegade Classics, 1186 E Main Street, Riverhead
4. Suffolk County United Veterans, 128 Main Street, Yaphank
5. Red River Inn, 450 Main Street, Yaphank
The event is presented by the Long Island chapter of the U.S. Military Veterans Motorcycle Club, a 25-year-old national organization with nearly 100 local chapters. Major sponsors of the event are Nixon Peabody, LLP and the Rotary Club of the Ronkonkomas.
