The National Weather Service in New York has issued a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow...which is in effect from 7 PM this evening to 7 PM EST Thursday. The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect. * Locations...eastern Union County New Jersey...southern parts of New York City...and Long Island. * Hazard types...heavy snow. * Accumulations...snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches tonight into Thursday. * Timing...rain mixes with sleet and snow this evening...before changing to all snow by midnight. Snow may be heavy at times late tonight through Thursday morning...before tapering off Thursday evening. * Impacts...hazardous travel conditions are expected tonight and Thursday due to reduced visibilities...icy roads and significant snow accumulations. * quarter to one half mile at times. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. Check in for the Run/Walk will be at 7:00-8:30 AM.  1K Turkey Trot for kids will start at 8:30 AM and the 5K Run/Walk in the park will follow after at 9:00 AM.  If you would like to do early check-in, it will be on 11/27 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Kings Park.
