Description

Walk Leader: Eleni Nikolopoulos, South Fork Natural History Museum (SoFo) Nature Educator

Ever wonder why there’s snow fencing sometimes that closes off part of your favorite beach in the summertime? Or why the string fencing with signs saying “Piping Plover Nesting Area” sometimes seem to have no birds in sight? Come join us for a brief explanation about shore bird conservation: how it is done, why it is done, and what you can do to help. After this, we’ll go out on the beach and look for some nesting plovers! Who could resist a peek at these young birds (which happen to look like little cotton fluffs with legs!) An offer too cute to turn down!

Advance reservations are required for all events. For more information, reservations, and directions to meeting places, please call: (631) 537-9735.

Cost
SoFo Members: Programs are free unless otherwise specified. Non-Members: Adults $15, Children $10 (Ages 3-12), Ages 2 & under free. This fee includes admission to the museum, in addition to the program.
