Description

The Atelier method is a highly disciplined learning method consisting of long-term tutelage under a highly accomplished artist/ instructor.   Proponents of the Atelier movement feel a strong foundation of skills is essential to the success of many great representational artists.  In this program, instruction for beginner and more advanced artists is tailored to teach everyone at their own pace, starting the process with the study of basic concepts of form and proportion in drawing and moving on to painting from still life and the live figure. Instruction becomes progressively challenging according to the student’s needs.  This is an ongoing course of study available throughout the year.  The first session in the program begins Sunday, October 19 from 11:00am to 3:00pm and meets each Sunday through November 23.  Another session begins Tuesday, November 4, 2014, from 4:00pm to 9:30pm and will meet weekly through December 23 with the exception of holidays. Students in Tuesday’s program can attend full or partial sessions, rates for classes vary according to schedule selected.  Enrollment periods for sessions run according to the Art League’s seasonal semesters.

An Atelier style course to be led by Ms. Palatnik is under development for college bound students who need to submit art portfolios necessary for college admission.  A free preview of the program takes place at the Art League on Saturday, November 1 from 10:00am to 1:00pm. Students, parents, and mentors are welcome to pre-register for this opportunity.
