Date & Time
After taking their name from a Lawrence Ferlinghetti poem and recording the first song ever written about Jack Kerouac’s iconic American novel, On The Road, Aztec Two-Step burst upon the scene with their 1972 self-titled debut album on Elektra Records. Since then Rex Fowler and Neal Shulman have spent a lifetime making music together. Their first album and their subsequent albums for RCA Records were staples of progressive FM and college radio and helped to bring the folk-rock music of the 1960s into the 70s and beyond.
For more than four decades, Rex and Neal have been writing and performing songs that helped make their generation’s musical memories, all the while inspiring a generation of young singer songwriters. They are still known for their intelligent songwriting, dazzling acoustic lead guitar, and inspiring harmonies, and are considered one of acoustic music’s most respected and enduring acts.
With their debut album, Rex and Neal were often reviewed as having the “east coast sensibility” and “ethereal harmonies” of Simon & Garfunkel. In this special evening, they will honor the pure poetry of Paul & Artie, as well as the seminal songs and harmonies of the remarkable Everly Brothers. And as the other “classic duo,” they’ll perform their own ATS classics as well. They will also perform a few songs in the Holiday spirit!
