Walk Leader: Crystal Oakes, South Fork Natural History Museum (SoFo) Nature Educator
Did you know that there are animals that think Long Island is a great place to spend the winter? Join Crystal as she investigates the salt and fresh water areas in Sag Harbor in this beginner birding exploration. She will help you learn the basic differences between loons, ducks, grebes, and geese, which will let you know where to begin your search in a field guide. Then learn which behaviors and field marks (obvious visual clues) help you narrow down and pinpoint which species you have found. Having your favorite field guide to birds of eastern North America and binoculars will be very helpful. There are a limited number of binoculars to borrow if you need.
