Blowout Spring Boat Sale Open House for Boat Builders

A “blockbuster” small boat sale will be part of the East End Classic Boat Society’s Spring Open House at 11 a.m. this Saturday April 29, at 30l Bluff Road, Amagansett, the group’s president announced.

“For anyone looking for a small sailboat, rowboat or canoe to enjoy on the water this summer, this will be a blockbuster sale. We have everything from wooden craft to fiberglass sloop and an antique canoe,” said Ray Hartjen, EECBS, president.

Attendees at the event behind the East Hampton Town Marine Museum in the Hartjen-Richardson Community Boat Shop in addition to shopping for a boat can tour the shop and view vintage boats undergoing restoration and the group’s newly-build raffle boat, a sunshine tender.

The craft on sale include rowboats for $450, canoes for $500, a fully restored Beetle catboat for $9,500 and a 16.5 foot fiber-glass Catalina sloop with trailer for $4,500. “All offers will be considered. We’re overstocked and looking to sell out to the bare walls so we can make room for future projects,” said Pierce Hance, EECBS vice president.

The EECBS, a non-profit organization, meets year-round Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Membership is open to all persons of any skill level for $35. Family memberships are $45.

Besides boats, the club will be selling antique rudders, centerboards and wooden boat memorabilia as well as belaying pins, nautical caps and t-shirts. The event will conclude at 4 p.m.
