Date & Time
Author and story-teller Rosemary McKinley has dug deep into the life and adventures of Captain Henry Green (1794-1873), who was born in Sag Harbor and went to sea for the first time aboard the ship “Fair Helen” in 1817. He went on to captain the ship “Hannibal” and several other whaling vessels and achieved substantial wealth before finishing his seafaring career as captain of the ship “Huron.” Along the way, he kept excellent journals, recording his adventures at sea and his quest for treasures, many now on display at the Southold Historical Society’s lighthouse location. Co-sponsored by the Southampton Historical Museum and Rogers Memorial Library.
