The Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation (LIAF) will commence two caregiver support groups for families: the Adult Children Group begins Mon, July 31 and will continue to meet every other Monday. The Spouses Group will start Thurs, Aug 3 and will meet every other Thursday. Both groups are held from 1 - 2 p.m. at LIAF's new headquarters: 1025 Old Country Rd in Westbury (parking and entrance on State St). The support groups are facilitated by Master's level, licensed social workers and provide participants with education, coping strategies and community resources to assist them in being more comfortable and effective in their caregiving role. Participants have the opportunity to discuss their feelings and benefit from peer and professional support.
