Come celebrate with the Nissequogue River State Park Foundation for the third annual I Love My Park Day at Nissequogue River State Park! I Love My Park Day is an exciting statewide event to improve and enhance New York's parks and historic sites and bring visibility to the entire park's system and its needs.
All ages are welcome to participate. Volunteers are asked to meet at the Administration building (building 125) the morning of, and to wear appropriate clothing with sunscreen.
From 9 - 11:30 AM, volunteers will help with general park clean up of garbage and debris. We will also be clearing trails and paths of overgrown vines, as well as trimming any tree branches blocking the trails. There will also be general clean up around the waterfront areas.
From 12 - 1 PM, a tree trail nature hike will be offered. Using GPS, volunteers will be hiking trails and identifying various tree species throughout the park. Volunteers should please meet at the NRSP lobby and bring their smartphones (with GPS capabilities).
From 1:30 to 4 PM, we will host an arts and crafts workshop where volunteers will paint, glue, draw and stitch to create an 8x8 quilt. Each quilt will be tied together to display at the park. Interested participants are asked to meet at the Administration building (building 125).
