Centerport United Methodist Church will host the 4th Annual Tom Adams Blessing of the Animals on Saturday, April 29th, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in the field located behind the church at 97 Little Neck Road, Centerport. The outdoor celebration features food, live music, family entertainment and special blessings for pets and pays tribute to the late Tom Adams, a beloved CUMC parishioner remembered for his love of animals. Admission is free.
Everyone in the community is welcome to take part in this special event that includes prayers and blessings for pets of all kinds bestowed by the Rev. Roy Grubbs, senior pastor of CUMC. Guests are also encouraged to bring photos of their dear departed pets, and children may bring their favorite stuffed animals.
The Blessing of the Animals celebration will also feature hayrides for children, performances by Team Jilli Dog and Friends with Rick Caran, and music by CUMC’s own Leap of Faith band. Pets will be served treats and a chuck wagon BBQ lunch is planned for their humans.
Guests are encouraged to bring donations of pet food, blankets and towels to be collected on behalf of Little Shelter Animal Rescue Adoption Center of Huntington. Fetch of Huntington Village and Pawfect Pet Den in Greenlawn will contribute gift basket prizes.
