David Glukh Klezmer Ensemble is one of the most unusual groups of its kind. Eclectic by repertoire and design, the group's instrumentation: Piccolo trumpet (a unique instrument - twice as short as a regular trumpet), Accordion, Violin, Bass and Percussion. The ensemble have performed worldwide to a critical acclaim. Their performances include traditional klezmer music along with special "fusions" between klezmer and other musical traditions of the world. (Irish, Gypsy, Classical, Latin, Jazz, Georgian, Middle-Eastern, Chinese, Macedonian, Israeli, Hassidic, Russian, Funk, Tango, Flamenco, Indian etc.) and improvisational world-beat. The group has performed in such prestigious concert venues as Merkin Concert Hall, Alice Tully Hall in New York's Lincoln Center. Wharton Center for Performing Arts in Michigan, Skirball Center for the Arts in Los Angeles. They have collaborated with best-selling Sony Classical Recording Artist - violinist Lara St.John. By special invitation from jazz great Dave Douglas, the group has participated in all star concert benefiting New York City public schools. Variety of Radio and TV stations have broadcasted group's performances.
Each summer, SCC sponsors an extremely popular series of summer concerts in Agawam Park and at Coopers Beach. Most concerts are held on Wednesdays and start at 6:30 PM. Concerts that are held on Saturdays start at 5:00 PM.
