Congregation Shaaray Shalom, located at 711 Dogwood Ave., West Hempstead, will be commemorating Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, on Sunday, April 23rd, 2017, at 7:00pm. Our renowned guest speaker will be Irving Roth, who will speak on “The Signposts on the Road to Auschwitz, the transformation of an ordinary society to murderers”. The program will be meaningful and educational for all backgrounds and ages.
Irving Roth, a survivor of Auschwitz and Buchenwald, will recall the demonization of an ordinary society from the perspective of his personal journey starting from his childhood in Czechoslovakia ending at the Nazi death camps.
Mr. Roth is the Director of the Holocaust Resource Center at Temple Judea of Manhasset, New York. He endeavors to convey the lessons that can be learned from his experience in the death camps of Poland, working to ensure that an atrocity like the Holocaust never happens again. Mr. Roth has been the recipient of numerous awards for his work promoting a more accepting and diverse world. His life’s mission, to make the world a better place, has earned him the Spirit of Anne Frank Award. A dynamic and engaging speaker, Mr. Roth is a sought-after Holocaust educator throughout Europe, Israel and America.
