Date & Time
The Southampton Historical Museum’s Curator, Emma Ballou, will lead a tour of the Thomas Halsey Homestead. The oldest house in Southampton, the Halsey House was built on land allotted to Thomas Halsey Sr., one of the original band of Puritans who arrived in Southampton in 1640. In 1678 Thomas Halsey Jr. inherited his father’s property and built the house that still stands on South Main Street today. Ms. Ballou will lead a tour detailing the rich history of the families that lived in the house, its architectural significance, and the wonderful colonial objects that are on display in the exhibit rooms.
