Three senior disciples of Pandit Samir Chatterjee are representatives of the Farrukhabad style of tabla playing. In their presentation on August 13th, the three players will interweave traditional repertoire and creative improvisation in a rarely seen context: tabla trio. Drummer Daniel Weiss has toured Europe and the US. extensively, and currently co-leads a jazz piano trio in New York City. Mr. Weiss also studied tabla for five years under Pandit Samir Chatterjee, and won first place in sadarang tabla competition in 2000. He has played concerts with Mandira Lahiri, Ramesh Misra and Steve Gorn.
