“Deconstructing the Sayre Barn: Photographs by Ulf Skogsbergh”, an exhibit of highly detailed oversize photographs, features what Ulf Skogsbergh found to be the most fascinating phase of the reconstruction of the Southampton Historical Museum’s Sayre Barn, its deconstruction. As the Sayre Barn was dismantled, the tools of another age came out of the shadows to be reexamined and admired for their sculptural beauty and simple utility and on each structural element could be seen the signs of the passage of time. Using photography’s most advanced techniques and with his engineer’s training and artist’s eye, Mr. Skogsbergh launched his meticulous examination of the time-worn building by creating a stunning 4-by-15-foot, 360-degree panorama of the barn “before anything really happened". The exhibit will run every Wednesday to Sunday, through Saturday, October 18th.
