Description

FUN EVENT FOR YOUR CREATIVE SIDE

Long Island Seaport and Eco Center's Fifth Annual "Quick 'N Dirty" Boat Build could be for you. 

Two person teams design, build and race their creation in a two day event on August 15th and 16th - 10AM / 3PM

Up to 12 2-person teams will construct a boat in four hours on Saturday using only three sheets of plywood, wire cable ties, several pieces of 1x1". 2x2" lumber and Sikaflex, a fast acting caulk and adhesive. No extra time allowed. Each team arrives with a design in mind and with much camaraderie get to work. 

On Sunday the crews return in the morning to decorate their boats and prepare to race them. Last year, several hundred people lined the pier and park rail adjacent to the beach to cheer for the teams rowing around an approximately 150 yard course.  Prizes are awarded after the races for design, decoration, first built and race winners.
