Description

On July 9, 2005, Adam Greenberg stepped into the batter's box for his first Major League plate appearance with the Chicago Cubs. The moment was the culmination of his life's work and proudest achievement up to that point. No one suspected the triumph of the moment would be obliterated by a 92 mph first-pitch fastball striking Adam just under his helmet on the back of his head. The first pitch of his Major League career threatened not only the future of his ability to play baseball, but life itself.

Adam will be discussing his new book, "Get Up: The Art of Perseverance,' at Temple Israel of Lawrence, 140 Central Avenue, Lawrence, N.Y. 1159, on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at 7:30 p.m. If there's ever a person who epitomizes perseverance, it's Adam Greenberg. After seven years of continued hustle to get back, Adam signed a one-day contract with the Miami Marlins in 2012. Up until that point Adam was one of only two players in history to have an official at-bat without ever taking the field.

"Get Up," is not simply a baseball story or a story about a baseball player. This book is a beginning. No matter what you're doing, or what you're facing, Adam offers his story of overcoming adversity and persevering through challenges in hopes of helping you relentlessly pursue your dream in life.

The cost of admission: Temple Israel member - $4.00; non-member - $5.00. For questions, or to register, contact Temple Israel at (516) 239-1140, or email alan@templeisrael-lawrence.org. Copies ofr "Get Up," will be available for purchase, and to have Adam sign.

"Get UP," is the first in the monthly "Book & Author" series of talks at Temple Israel of Lawrence.
