Everyone is welcome to help! Please, bring your own scissors and tape! Last year, our kids gave over 5000 toys. I handed out many of your donations and was smiling for weeks, reflecting upon your generosity. Every last toy ended up in the arms of a child. Local charities, once again, are forecasting donation lows for this holiday season. I know you will be generous, as you clean out those crowded closets.
Many of the children will only receive your Holiday gift. If your toy is not new, it must be spotless. The children line up to see Santa for their one special treat. When the toy is damaged or dirty they miss out until next year. If you are not sure of a toys condition, please do not send it in. We can’t accept loose, “bottom of the toy box” type donations. We operate on zero funding and limited volunteers. Thankfully, 99% of the gifts donated are beautiful. The other 1% takes up the majority of our time to sort through. You may donate on PayPal. There is a link on our website www.freewebs.com/hhinwi/apps/donations/
Times are difficult for Long Islanders and your money will help provide in between drives for “special requests” coming in from local families outside the scope of our collections. You may also donate each time you buy on Amazon through this link smile.amazon.com/ch/56-2437348
Every toy must be ready for distribution .They must be clean and decorated with a ribbon, candy cane or a lollipop. Here are other suggestions: Dangle Happy Meal toys from a stuffed animal’s neck...
Give a doll’s hair a makeover. Fill Backpacks and lunch boxes with assorted goodies. Stacks of children’s books are tied together with a ribbon and small toy. Costume and sterling jewelry make great gifts for the older girls. Often, they are overlooked. Goody bags are filled with extra bath and body samples. Fill recycled gift bags with an assortment of presents for one child. Please label these packages with the sex and age of the child
P.S. Donating Costco movie tickets for Tanger, will make it possible for me to treat children to a holiday matinee, they, may otherwise never experience. Help me give them this wonderful, Christmas memory! Like us on Facebook--- IT’S NEW!!!
