Description

On Oct. 25th, the Historical Society of Islip Hamlet hosts author Kerriann Flanagan Brosky and her presentation on "Historic Haunts of Long Island; Ghosts and Legends from the Gold Coast to Montauk Point".

Take a ghostly journey through LI's history, from Native American legends and beyond.  Ghosts lurk the Execution Rocks Lighthouse, where Revolutionary War Patriots were brutally tortured and killed by the British during the Battle of Long Island.  Popular gathering places have otherworldly tenants, like Bayport's Grey Horse Tavern and the Cutchogue Village Green, where several old buildings - and their former inhabitants - are preserved.  LI's history is unearthed and preserved through its ghost stories and spirits who have made their presence known. Book signing to follow.  The program will be held at the Islip Public Library 71 Monell Ave., from 7-9 pm; it is free and open to the public; refreshments.  For more info: 631-245-0675; www.isliphamlethistory.org
