We reenact events of that day on that same green. There is a militia encampment. We demonstrate lifeskills of the period such as cooking, sewing, hornwork, silversmithing, music, etc. The men of the unit practice firing their muskets and cannon. We have participartory events for adults and children. There are political discusions of the 18th century - do you think we should go to war with England? Should we be a free country or stay a colony of England's. What will happen to us and how will our lives change? Speak with a person of the past, not everyone has the same opinon. The Delaration of Independence will be read at 1:00 pm. The Arsenal, an 18th century home used by the Huntington Milita then and now as headquarters, has been newly restored and reopened and will have tours during the day, also free of charge. A great event for everyone and an entertaining and fun way to learn about the past.
