Description

Walk Leader: Jim Ash, Former Executive Director of the South Fork Natural History Museum (SoFo), current Vice President of the Board of SoFo and Honorary Director of the Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt (FLPG)

This walk is cosponsored by the Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt and the South Fork Natural History Museum

The grasslands of Vineyard Field represent a significant and vanishing habitat. For the past 11 years, Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt (FLPG) has made great strides in maintaining and, in some cases, restoring the health of this rare ecosystem, which is comprised of ponds, wetlands, wildflowers, and native grasslands, and is home to many rare and endangered native plants, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. Join naturalist Jim Ash as you explore this area—preserved by the Town of Southampton—and learn about its importance to the wellbeing of our environment. This is a free program. Donations for the continued maintenance of Vineyard Field would be appreciated.

Advance reservations are required for all events. For more information, reservations, and directions to meeting places, please call: (631) 537-9735.
