On Friday March 27th, 2015, at 7:30 PM, the Greater Port Jefferson-Northern Brookhaven Arts Council (GPJAC) proudly announces that legendary pianist JACQUELINE SCHWAB will be appearing in concert in a very special solo performance. The concert will take place in the intimate dance barn at Benner’s Farm, 56 Gnarled Hollow Road, East Setauket. This is her first appearance on Eastern Long island.
Pianist Jacqueline Schwab creates spirited and meditative arrangements on traditional and vintage tunes from America, England, Scotland and beyond, and she spins out stories in her variations on the themes. Best known for her sound track performances on Ken Burns’ documentaries and her improvisatory playing with the English dance band Bare Necessities, she enjoys performing solo and duo concerts, creating sound track music, playing for dances, and teaching. Jacqueline grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, where she studied composition and theory, and first came into contact with the world-wide traditional folk and dance community, which music has infused her own.
