Description

On Thurs, Oct. 18, the Historical Society of Islip Hamlet will host Joshua Ruff, curator at the L.I. Museums, who will present a power-point presentation on the museum's current exhibit.  In the 1950s, Long Island led the country in population growth, thanks to suburbs like Levittown and miles of new highway.  Long Island was also a microcosm of America in these years on everything from Civil Rights to teenage rebellion.  The program is from 7-9 pm and will be held at the Islip Middle School, 211 Main St., Islip.  The program is free and open to the public.  For more info: 631/245-0675 or www.isliphamlethistory.org.
