Description

New Beginnings Community Center, a state-of-the-art outpatient facility designed to provide rehabilitation, management and recovery for community members with traumatic brain injury, physical disabilities, cognitive disabilities or dementia, will hold its fifth annual golf outing on May 20, 2016 at the Rock Hill Country Club in Manorville, New York. Over 150 golfers and supporters are expected to attend New Beginnings' golf event this year, which raises money to support its Brendan House Project. The event brings together individuals, families and organizations to praise loved ones and honor supporters, and has raised more than $50,000 from generous corporate and individual sponsors over the past four years. This year's New Beginnings event will honor Suffolk County Sherriff Vincent F. DeMarco. Sheriff DeMarco is a lifelong resident of Suffolk County. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from St. John's University in 1991 and he began his distinguished career as a Suffolk County Deputy Sheriff in 1994. On November 8, 2005, DeMarco was elected to the position of Sheriff of Suffolk County. On January 1, 2006, he was sworn in and became the first uniformed member of the Sheriff's Office to be elected Sheriff and one of the youngest Sheriffs ever elected in Suffolk County. Throughout his tenure, he has made working with children and teens a priority of his Administration and believes that through education, young people will be less likely to become involved in unsafe situations and criminal activity.
