Don't you just love the feeling of the sun on your skin, the sound music and laughter and the smell of delicious BBQ in the air? Then you don’t want to miss HEARTS (Helping Enrich the Arts) Fourth annual community music, arts and cultural festival, PortFest 2015 on Saturday, May 16th from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm, rain or shine.
Live music, art exhibits, local musicians, dance performances, interactive hands on exhibits, and performing groups from across the school district are just some of the scheduled events and activities. New to PortFest will be the Poetry Café featuring poetry readings and a display of student artwork. Coffee and sweet treats will be available for purchase in the Poetry Cafe. One of the largest exhibitions will be the PortFest Art Exhibit that will boast different local artist’s work on display and available for purchase (a percentage of sales will go directly to HEARTS). The popular Silent Auction tent will be chock full of incredible prizes, baskets, and experiences.
Damon Gersh, Founder and chairman of HEARTS remarked “The funds raised since the first PortFest has been able to fund over $100,000 in new music and arts program grants for the students in the Port Washington school district.” He added “Attending these programs and seeing the engagement and enjoyment on the kids’ faces is always immensely gratifying.”
On May 16th, Port Washington will come together, as a community that values creativity, self-expression, and the importance of a quality arts education. In a time of tight school budgets and emphasis on testing, take a moment to support the pursuit of imagination, inspiration, and soul.
Admission to PortFest is FREE and there will be plenty of free parking at the Schreiber High School Campus.
