Date & Time
The Nassau County Soil and Water Conservation District would like to announce its Raingarden Workshop series. Raingardens are shallow bowls designed to soak up stormwater runoff. Not only are these rain gardens aesthetically pleasing, but they also serve a larger function. Raingardens look like regular flower gardens, but when it rains, a raingarden collects runoff and fills with a few inches of water, which then slowly filters into the ground or is used by plants, rather than running off into storm drains, bays, lakes, and streams.
This workshop provide an in depth look at how raingardens function, as will as teach you how to choose the optimal location, design, plants, and building teqnique for a raingarden of your own.
