"Heat Advisory" ...Heat advisory remains in effect until 6 PM EDT this evening... * heat index the mid 90s. * Timing...this afternoon into early this evening. * Impacts...the heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure. Extreme heat can cause illness and death among the at-risk population who can not stay cool. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A heat advisory is issued when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it feel like it is 95 to 99 degrees for two or more consecutive days, or 100 to 104 degrees for any length of time. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the occupational safety and health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. The Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Association's (RSDSA) 2nd Annual Long Island Awareness Walk for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) will take place on Saturday, September 9, 2017, 8 am - 2 pm, at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow.  The event's goal is to raise awareness, fund better treatments and find a cure for the disabling and painful neuro-inflamatory disorder named for this organization. 

Participants will be able to walk, run or roll on 2k and 5k paths, enjoy a BBQ lunch, benefit from educational exhibits and sponsors, gain support from fllow paricipants and mre.
