The Holocaust Memorial & Tolerance Center of Nassau County (HMTC) presents a Holocaust Remembrance Day lecture, "Women and Resistance During the Holocaust," by Dr. Debórah Dwork, an internationally renowned social historian of the Holocaust. Dr. Dwork is the Rose Professor of Holocaust History and Founding Director of the Strassler Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Clark University.
Faced with manhunts, deportations, and horrifying rumors about "unknown destinations" to which Jews were shipped, underground groups throughout Europe simply sprang up, created by people wo felt the need to act. Dr. Dwork will describe these heroic endeavors, focusing on the role of women and the amazing initiatives they undertook.
