Shinnecock tribal member and culture bearer, Roddy Smith, will discuss the Shinnecock relationship to the water and its preservation. Loren Spears (Narragansett) will engage guests in her presentation of "Wampum, Telling Our Stories - History, Culture, Arts, Misconceptions, and the Traditional". Ms. Spears will also talk about the contemporary process of making Wampum. Loren Spears is the Executive Director of the Tomaquag Indian Memorial Museum in Rhode Island, and was recently appointed to the Rhode Island State Council of the Arts.
