Did you know that we can actually ELIMINATE the threat of a deadly disease that kills someone in Africa every 60 seconds in just a few short years?
The goal of the United Methodist Church's "Imagine No Malaria" campaign is to do just that - by 2015! Already, we've seen the death rate drop in HALF since 2010, when someone died once every 30 seconds. So, we ARE making a difference!
Now, you can do your part. Join us for a 2.4-mile "Skeeter Walk" (named for the mosquitoes that carry the virus) beginning and ending at the Village Church. We suggest a donation of $30 per family, but you can give anytime by making a donation at ImagineNoMalaria.org or donating $10 by texting "malaria" to 27722.
"Skeeter Walk" tee shirts will be available to the first ones to register, and registration will begin at 11:30am that Sunday. We'll have "Imagine NO Malaria" bracelets ready for all our walkers so you can help us raise awareness. We'll also have some Venus Fly Traps available for sale for those who would like to further support this effort.
If you have a percussion instrument you can walk with, you are welcome to bring it along and raise awareness as we march!
