"Winter Storm Warning" ...Winter Storm Warning in effect from 3 am to 6 PM EST Monday... The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow...which is in effect from 3 am to 6 PM EST Monday. * Locations...Suffolk County. * Hazard types...heavy snow and wind. * Accumulations...snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches. * Winds...northeast 15 to 25 mph with 30 to 35 mph gusts. * Temperatures...in the lower 30s. * Visibilities...one quarter to one half mile at times. * Timing...snow develops late tonight...and then the heaviest snow will fall from the Monday morning commute through Monday afternoon. * Impacts...the combination of strong winds and a heavy wet snow will bring down tree limbs and power lines. Hazardous travel conditions are expected due to greatly reduced visibilities and significant snow accumulations. Blowing and drifting of snow with near blizzard conditions are expected due to strong winds. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. Description

The Parish of Saint William the Abbot in Seaford (Nassau County), New York will be holding it's first Candlelight Carol Sing on Wednesday, December 19th, 2012 beginning at 7:30pm.
A wonderful event sure to become a holiday family tradition, attendees participate  in singing familiar Christmas favorites as well as being  entertained with the sounds of beautiful music provided by professional musicians, handbells and a wonderful group of singers.  A featured moment of the evening is the singing of the familiar "Silent Night" carol with the church illuminated only by candlelight. Arriving early is recommended.  Those arriving early (on or before 7:00pm) will  enjoy warm cider or hot chocolate on the front plaza around
a fire while a brass quintet serenades them. Admission is free, although  free-will offerings are accepted. Please bring your family and friends for an unforgettable event.
