Frank Ohman, Artistic Director and Founder of the New York Dance Theatre, is pleased to announce that the Special Honoree at this year's Spring Gala will be Violette Verdy, former Principal Dancer with the New York City Ballet and former colleague of Mr. Ohman from his days as a soloist with New York City Ballet. The Gala will be held at the Brookville Country Club in Old Brookville, NY. Ms. Verdy is an internationally acclaimed ballerina who has been the artistic director of the Paris Opera Ballet, the Boston Ballet, and who currently holds the position of distinguished professor of ballet and the Kathy Ziliak Anderson Chair in ballet at Indiana University. She has guested as a performer and a director with many of the world's leading ballet companies and is the recipient of numerous honorary doctorates and awards including the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et Lettres, conferred by the President of France. The Gala evening offers cocktails, dinner, tributes and footage of Ms. Verdy's career, entertainment and dancing, all beginning at 6:30 p.m. A more intimate VIP Champagne Reception is planned at 5:30 p.m. for those who wish to greet and speak to Ms. Verdy before the main event.
