Description

Frank Ohman presents New York Dance Theatre's 33rd season of "The Nutcracker" at Hofstra University on Dec. 19th at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. and on Dec. 20th and 21st at 12:00 and 5:00 p.m.

Guest artists include Dance Theatre of Harlem's DaVon Doane, Momix principal dancer Nicole Loizides, NYDT's own Andrea Cillo and several artists from NYC companies.  Frank Ohman, Long Island's only direct link to George Balanchine, will perform the role of "Herr Drosselmeir"  on the Friday and Saturday evening shows.  Maximilian Lendegger, who performed the role of the young Prince at Lincoln Center for the past two years, will appear as one of the Princes in Ohman's production this year.  In all, a cast of eighty children, pre-professional and professional dancers will bring this charming story ballet to life on the stage of the Adams Playhouse.  This magical holiday classic appeals to all ages with its elegant Christmas Party Scene, its fierce battle between toy soldiers and giant mice, its dazzling live snowstorm, and its  brilliant choreography and dancing.

Ohman's production is the largest Nutcracker on Long Island with added music, scenes and dances, and is the only one presented in the tradition of New York City Ballet's legendary George Balanchine.  Tickets may be purchased on line at www.ohmanballet.org or by calling 631.462.0964.
