Description

Sagamore Hill in Oyster Bay was Theodore Roosevelt’s favorite place on earth. Bill Bleyer, author of “Sagamore Hill,” writes that no house better reflects the personality and interests of its owner. There Roosevelt reveled in the pleasures of family life with his wife and rambunctious children and there, during his presidency he hosted political and cultural luminaries. He spent his final years happily at Sagamore Hill and after his death in 1919 the house was preserved. Historian Bill Bleyer will share the fruits of his research for the book which includes many previously unpublished photographs and presents a room-by-room guide to the house and grounds, along with a fascinating account of bygone days at Roosevelt’s haven. Co-sponsored by the Southampton Historical Museum and Rogers
