The Village Cup Regatta is a friendly sailboat race hosted by the Port Jefferson Yacht Club in which a team with members from Mather Hospital competes against a team from the village of Port Jefferson. It was founded in 2010 to give the members of the Yacht club (formerly known as the Setauet Yacht Club), and the surrounding area, a way to make a significant contribution in the fight against Pancreatic Cancer and to help those in out community with the greatest need for humane, end of life, care.
The proceeds are raised for the Lustgarten Foundation, to advance the scientific and medical research related to the diagnosis, treatment, cure, and prevention of Pancreatic Cancer, and Mather Hospital's Palliative Medicine program.
At the Port Jefferson Yacht Club we have lost a number of cherished members to this terrible illness and we are committed to do something about it.
