"War of the Worlds" is the second of three in a Fall Radio Drama Series co-presented by Port Washington Play Troupe and WCWP (88.1 FM, the community public radio station of LIU Post). The series features vintage radio scripts and songs from the era, and is recorded in front of a live studio audience.
In H.G. Wells’ famous science fiction novel, Martians invade Earth and terrify the populace. The story was told most infamously on the air by Orson Welles in 1938, initially leading listeners to believe the events of the story were real. This adaptation of the 1953 film aired in 1955.
The Fall Radio Drama Series began with "The Philadelphia Story" (September 27, 1pm) and will conclude with "It's a Wonderful Life' (November 22 at 1pm).
