The Rogers Mansion, managed by the Southampton History Museum, and the First Presbyterian Church, as we know them today, were built in the same year. The Rogers family homesteaded the property in 1648 and the Church was organized in 1640 at a nearby location. In 1843 there was plenty of whaling money in Southampton for grand building projects that reflected European architectural styles popular during the early Victorian Era. This PowerPoint talk will compare both building projects which probably shared the same carpenters. Co-Sponsored with the Rogers Memorial Library.
