Eleven Jewish greats from the world of sports, including baseball player Kevin Youkils, the late basketball commissioner David Stern and hockey player Jeff Halpern, will be inducted in to the Jewish Sports Heritage Association and eight others will receive individual awards, including Lawrence native Gabriel Leifer, star basketball player for the Yeshiva University championship basketball team.
This event is open to the public and Free of charge, and will begin at 10:30 am at Temple Israel of Lawrence, 140 Central Avenue, lawrence, N.Y.
