The Flash Flood Watch continues for * portions of southern Connecticut, northeast New Jersey, and southeast New York, including the following areas, in southern Connecticut, Fairfield, Middlesex, New Haven, and New London. In northeast New Jersey, Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic, and Union. In southeast New York, Bronx, Kings (brooklyn), Nassau, New York (manhattan), Orange, Putnam, Queens, Richmond (staten island), Rockland, Suffolk, and Westchester. * From Thursday morning through Thursday afternoon * low pressure approaches the tri-state area tonight and passes through on Thursday. Rain tonight becomes potentially heavy at times Thursday morning with the potential of heavy downpours into early afternoon. A total of 1.25 to 2.25 inches of rainfall with locally higher amounts possible in any stronger convection on Thursday. Flash flooding of urban and poor drainage areas, as well as small streams will therefore be possible Thursday. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued. Maloit , "Wind Advisory" ...Wind Advisory remains in effect from 9 am to 6 PM EST Thursday... * winds...southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. * Timing...mid Thursday morning through Thursday afternoon. * Impacts...strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power lines. Scattered power outages are expected. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds of 31 to 39 mph, or gusts of 46 to 57 mph, are expected or occurring. Artists in Partnership, Inc. presents the 6th Annual Kickin’ Country Music Festival and Food Drive March 2-4th in Long Beach, NY as part of “Beyond the Dunes” Cultural Arts Month. Join us and the LBNY Arts Council on Friday at 7:00pm as we kick off the weekend with NYCity Stompers featuring Megan Downes, Melody Berger, square dancing, flat-footing demos, Live Music and refreshments as part of FIRST FRIDAYS+. On Saturday, March 3rd the Long Beach Public Library, 111 West Park Ave. presents at 2:00pm– Li’l Mo & the Monicats Trio and at 3:15- Banjo Nickaru & Western Scooches Trio.

On Sunday, 3/4 at 1:30 join us for the Carolyn Miller Duo, followed at 2:30 by the SPINN Band and the Feinberg Brothers Band at 3:30. Library programs FREE-please bring non-perishable food and supplies. Info and schedules at
