Tom Clavin returns for a talk about his new book, Wild Bill: The True Story of the American Frontier’s First Gunfighter. In this entertaining and thorough biography, Clavin digs into the life of legendary gunslinger, James Butler “Wild Bill” Hickok. Before he earned his famous moniker, Hickok found success as a Union soldier and spy. The moment that would change the course of his life came in 1865 when his skill with a Colt pistol won him the first recorded quick-draw duel on the American frontier. From that point on, Wild Bill’s reputation as a sharpshooter brought him both opportunity and danger. Co-Sponsored with the Rogers Memorial Library.
