On Sept. 30, Allied Physicians Group’s “Future of Health & Medicine – Controlling Your Destiny And Your Practice” conference will host “ZDoggMD” Zubin Damania, M.D. in its inaugural conference for healthcare practitioners at the Garden City Hotel in Garden City. This two-hour conference is designed for physicians, healthcare executives and other healthcare professionals interested in learning about caring for patients while also rediscovering joy in the practice of medicine and making a difference in the lives of others.
A 2013 TEDMED presenter, Damania is an internist and founder of Turntable Health, an innovative healthcare startup that’s part of an ambitious urban revitalization movement spearheaded by Zappos.com CEO Tony Hsieh. During a 10-year hospitalist career at Stanford, Damania won clinical teaching awards while simultaneously maintaining a shadow career performing stand-up comedy for medical audiences worldwide. His videos, created under the pseudonym ZDoggMD, have gone epidemically viral, educating patients and providers while mercilessly satirizing our dysfunctional healthcare system.
In Las Vegas, Damania is making the leap from satire to actionable change by implementing an innovative model of healthcare delivery that promotes wellness at both the individual and community level. Turntable Health, a membership model primary care clinic formed in partnership with Cambridge, Massachusetts, startup Iora Health, is a ground-up effort to get healthcare right…for everyone.
“Dr. Zubin Damania is pure inspiration, and we are thrilled that he will serve as our keynote speaker at our inaugural conference,” said Dr. Gary Mirkin, Allied Physicians Group’s CEO. “This event will help healthcare providers reconnect with why they initially sought medicine as a profession and help them not only find meaning in their career, but also ensure a positive impact on the lives of their patients.”
