The sound of love songs - offered in four-part harmony by tuxedoed barbershop quartets decked out in cummerbunds and bow ties in bright red - are at the heart of a musical way to relay caring thoughts guaranteed to be long remembered, asserts the local chapter of the 23,000-member Barbershop Harmony Society.
A "Singing Valentines" program ready for implementation on Sunday, February 14th, as well as Friday the 12th and Saturday the 13th, will have foursomes from the Nassau Mid-Island Chapter of the society, more commonly referred locally as The Long Island Harmonizers, personally delivering those vocal messages of affection throughout Nassau County and Western Suffolk.
The surprise yet planned appearances by the quartets (pre-ordered by the senders) will be offered at places of employment, in homes, at dining spots, health care facilities, in short, wherever requested, from 9 am to 9 pm on the three days. The visits also include the presentation of a silk rose, and a card bearing the personal message also requested to be relayed to recipients.
Arrangements are made through the nonprofit Chapter's 2016 Valentines Chairman at 917-387-7845. Cost per recipient is $75 on a first come, first served schedule-availability basis.
