Become a Biblical Counselor

Ever wondered if you have what it takes to become a counselor? Starting Friday, March 22, at 6:00 p.m., South Bay Bible Church, 578 Montauk Highway, East Moriches, is pleased to offer all the academic training necessary to become a Certified Biblical Counselor through the International Association of Biblical Counselors (IABC).

Upon completing the four intensive modules, you will receive a Certificate in Biblical Counseling. This training is designed to meet the needs of pastors, teachers, group leaders, and others seeking structured and systematic validation of their ability to apply God’s Word in a discipleship or faith-based counseling setting.

This program is both cost-effective and time-sensitive. It accommodates tight budgets and busy schedules with no shortcuts in training. Two options are available for payment:

• Option #1 is pay-as-you-go, which is $250 per module for four modules.
• Option #2 includes a 10% discount if you pay for all four modules upfront, total payment $900.

Module 101: Fundamentals of Biblical Counseling
- Friday, March 22, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
- Saturday, March 23, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
In Module 101, you will learn the fundamentals of counseling methods, anthropology and counseling, evangelism in counseling, counseling for change, homework and counseling, and motivations and behaviors.

Module 201: Methodology of Biblical Counseling
- Friday, April 26, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
- Saturday, April 27, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
In Module 201, you will learn about labels (the Bible and the DSM-V), communication skills, Biblical forgiveness, Biblical thinking and self-talk skills, conflict resolution skills, and counseling dynamics including interviewing skills.

Module 301: Practical Theology of Biblical Counseling
- Friday, May 24, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
- Saturday, May 25, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
In Module 301, you will learn about anger, depression, anxiety, marriage, parenting, and addictions. Case studies are included in each area.

Module 401: Certification
- Friday, June 28, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
- Saturday, June 29, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
In Module 401, you will be guided through exam one (Self-Confrontation Manual Lesson 23), exam two (affirmations and denials), exam three (theological), exam four (counseling). You will also learn through two writing labs.
