Black Long Island hosted their first Ujamaa Fest on Long Island with over 65 exhibitors to showcase their products and services to over 300 attendees in an effort to rebuild the economic backbone of the black community on Long Island.
The Fourth Principle of Kwanzaa is Ujamaa and it is a commitment to the practice of shared social wealth and the work necessary to achieve it. Ujamaa - Cooperative Economics: "To build our own businesses, control the economics of our own community and share in all its work and wealth.""
