BOMBAZO IN BAY SHORE!
The Islip Arts Council is thrilled to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month with its first BOMBAZO! An afternoon of drumming, dancing and more with Jose Ortiz (Dr. Drum) and Melinda Gonzalez. BombaYo ignites the ancestral rhythms of Bomba, an African derived music and dance tradition developed in Puerto Rico.
Central Islip's The NAACP Black Diamonds will open this event with a dramatic reading of poetry by Anna Castillo, plus dance with a drumbeat.
This cultural event is made possible by a grant provided by Suffolk County Legislators Tom Cilmi and Anthony Piccirillo.
