Date & Time
Extreme weather events like the Hurricane of 1938 have shaped the history of Long Island, sometimes in not-so-subtle ways. This presentation will examine weather events in Long Island's history and attempt to address such questions as: how fog has played a role in our island's history, whether the rainfall pattern on Long Island has changed, what we know about the Native American legend of "Indian Summer," and the lasting effects of major hurricanes on Long Island.
Members Free; Non-Members $5. Includes wine & cheese + admission to our Long Island Express: Remembering the 1938 Hurricane anniversary exhibit! RSVP Requested: 631-727-2881 x100.
